Tiki Trouble!!

My original Tiki Skirt used to be my favorite design. And then the perfect gold color that matched his little face was discontinued. So, back to the drawing board for my NEW favorite design. I absolutely love this dancing Tiki man even more!

Mehli for Dismantled Fashions

Here are a couple GREAT photos I hadn't had the chance to post until now. I found Miss Mehli (aka Melanie) online as usual, but isn't it just a small world that she lives just an hour away in Richmond! Not only is she the model in the photos, she also runs her own photography company. I love Jills of all Trades, and this lady is no exception. We're already planning our next product shoot together, plus a little pin up with me in front of the camera!

The Vintage Doll for Dismantled Fashions

I'm a little behind on sharing these photos, but I think you'll agree, they're worth the wait! So please sit tight while I gush about how much I love this lady -

I first fell in love with The Vintage Doll on Facebook. All of the sudden, her photos were everywhere! I don't think I was able to go to one pin up or rockabilly page (or blog, or Tumblr) without seeing her gorgeous, classic, face. Now, I don't often approach models and in fact, it's pretty rare. I'm usually booked up with the lovely ladies who seek me  out, but I knew I had to snag a chance to work with this girl. After emailing her my ideas and the new design sketch, she said yes!

I'll admit it, I was a little shocked at how absolutely kind and sweet the Doll is. It's a sad fact that when a lot of models start becoming well known, the ego starts to get to them. Let me tell you, that is not her at all! Not only did she live up to the name Doll, but she's so professional! Thanks to her and her killer photographer,  Lily DeathStarr of Vivid EyeCandy Photography, I have lovely photos to share with you. I'm pleased as punch, just in case you couldn't tell!

Make sure you check out The Vintage Doll on Instagram, Facebook, or Youtube. You know I'm subscribed! ♥

Vivian Vega and Angela Morales for Dismantled Fashions

These photos may be just a tad old (few weeks maybe?) but I still wanted to share them over here now that I'm back in the blogging world.

I do a lot of photoshoots and I'm lucky enough to work with amazing models and photographers. But, it's rare that you have the perfect perfect perfect experience. With Vivian and Angela, I got just that. Every single detail of the experience was amazing, and clearly you can see that these photos are spot on perfect!

Oh Blogger, you won! I'm back!

I tried it... I really did! I tried to be a Tumblr person. I really loved it at first. Noncommittal reposts of things that catch your eye, it's all very flashy and exciting! After a while though, the ol' blogger soul gets sad and lonely. There's little comment interaction, and little actual content. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of pretty pictures and GIFs of all the nerdy things I love, but I just miss posting stories, tips, and random weirdness too much.

Now, I'm not promising an amazing post schedule. I'm pretty envious of those who are organized enough to do this, but that just ain't me! What I can promise though, is :

  • Lots of rambling about Dismantled Fashions.
  • Probably some posts about how I partied too hard and now I'm tired.
  • Lots of reviews and recommendations.
  • And ok, some posts that are just pretty pictures I like ha!

Extra serious on that recommendations and reviews one! If you have a shop, a band, a business or amazing venture of any kind please get a hold of me! I'd love to share what everyone is doing but I only can if you send it in. If you've got any questions about beauty products I like to use or any product recommendation, I'd love to do that too. Need sewing tips? Modeling advice? Ask away!

Until next time,
xo Emily

Flossie Carmichael for Dismantled Fashions

Miss Flossie is always such a treat to work with. This Texas based lady is the sweetest thing you've ever met. I first had the pleasure of meeting Flossie when I put out a casting call for Rosie Hair Wrap models, and after seeing what she sent back for me.. I fell in love! This girl has impeccable style and a gorgeous classic meets modern look. So far, she's done 4 shoots for Dismantled Fashions and I've yet to be disappointed! Here's some shots from the two most recent...

See more of Flossie on her FB Fanpage, or through American Pinups. All clothing can be purchased from http://dismantledfashions.com

The beginnings of a new jewelry line!

I recently decided that amping up my accessories section seemed like not only a logical next step but a brilliant addition! I plan on starting slow, and adding pieces as I find the perfect combinations. Everything will be limited edition to only a few of each style, and when they're gone... that's it! (with the possible exception of the Atomic necklace. It just fits my company style to a T!) Designs will rotate often to keep everything fresh and exciting :)

So, what do you think?

All available HERE

I'm also expanding my Rosie Wraps to tons of new prints, which hopefully will all be up on the website soon. Here's a peek at the newest :

I'm always open to print suggestions and requests so feel free to email or comment your ideas ♥

Be a Pin-Up of the Month ♥

January marks the start of a brand new piece of Dismantled Fashions... the monthly Pin Up contest!

Every month on the Facebook fan page, there will be a collection of lovely photos sent in to me by gorgeous girls - and you get to pick the winner! Well, mostly. That's the fun little twist about this contest, it's not just votes.  At the end of each contest, the 3 photos with the most 'likes' get sent to the jury round where my panel of fabulous chooses the winner.

The judges for the January contest are myself, pin up model/artist Bonnie Dee, and burlesque sensation Deepa De Jour!

The contest is going on now, so head on over to the Dismantled Fashions Facebook Page and look for the contest photo album to get your vote in.

And if you'd like to enter future contests, see the prizes, etc visit DismantledFashions.com for all the info you'll need!

New things make me happy!

I just recently got in an order of business cards from overnightprints.com and I'm totally in love with them. Not only are they great quality, but I used a coupon code and got 500 glossy cards for around $8 shipping included. Not bad! I fully recommend them if you're in the market for new promo materials.

I also just designed a cute little thank you card to include with my orders. Nothing better than a cute personalized hand written card to show my customers how much I appreciate their business. Some of them have coupon codes, so I'll randomly include them in some packages.

I used the new logo I designed too with help by the fabulous Bonnie Dee. She hand drew the lettering for me. I love it! Here's a sample one next to another business card. What can I say? I'm kind of in love with those cards.

What I've been up to...

Whew! I've been busy. I've slacked a little bit on my usual weekly features, but for good reason, I promise.

I'm super excited to say that you will soon be able to purchase Dismantled Fashions at Beyond the Trap Door in Western Australia. They will be the exclusive dealer in the area too! It of course means I'll be super busy getting the items together.. eek! As much as I love getting a new retail location, that's a lot of work. I'm ready for it though. Just means I'll be blogging even less for a while.

And one more exciting piece of news, on or around April 15th, if you walk into your local bookstore make sure you pick up a copy of Twisted South Magazine. Why? There is an interview with yours truly in the debut issue! There is a great article on what they refer to as 'trashy fashion'. I'd just call it rockabilly/psychobilly style, but that works too. As soon as I get my hands on a copy I'll scan and post the article. Make sure you read it so you can laugh at what a dork I am in interviews.

I'm baaack!

Well, I've been back since Monday. But I've spent the past few days recovering from the craziest weekend of the year. There's so much and so little to tell, and frankly I don't remember much.

As far as vending the event, I think it was a success. Though this year was the lowest turnout I've seen in my 4 years attending, I still made out okay. The other vendors were extremely awesome and I met a lot of very cool talented people (including the lady behind Mode Merr who had such great things to say about Dismantled Fashions, what a sweetie!) I also had a blast being next to the E-Bomb and Martha Rotten booth. Thanks for being entertaining when we were stuck at the table! Personally, I don't think I'll vend again unless I can hire help. I feel like I missed out on too much and I'm just not okay with that!

I wasn't able to check out many new bands as most of the good ones were downstairs, but here's a few you need to know! I'm sure there was more, but PBR & whiskey pretty much took what memory I had left.

And, thanks again to the booze, we really didn't take many pictures. And the maybe 5 we did take came out horrible! So I'll leave you with one of me, Bea and Deepa showing off our crew. So tough. Till next year, Heavy Rebel!

_____________________________

Oh! And I clearly made waaaay too much stock, so I've got more than I can handle left over. Some are new things that will need models so I'll be working on that soon. Expect the shop to fill up soon! And for lots of clearance stuff, because I'm completely tired of holding on to so much.

Only 4 more days!

So, Heavy Rebel.. 4 days away. This is the biggest show I've ever vended. Well, I did it last year, but I shared a booth with Trash Kulture, so it wasn't just me flying solo. This year it is! I'm in my freakout oh-my-god mode right now. I've still got actual things I need to make. Why did I run so close to the date?! Oh yeah, because I'm dumb. Here's some photos of my last minute madness. Excuse my horribly lit basement work room.

The last of the clothes to make. A few skeleton skirts drying/being painted

The clothes. As you can see, my two big retail racks are not enough and completely overflowing, so thankfully a friend is bringing one of theirs for me to use.

Promos and signs. I'm doing special cheap prices to help bring in drunk impulse buys. I mean, it would work on me. "Oh, that dress is only $45? Fuuuuuck it, Ima get it."

Got any advice or stories you want to share on vending?

Modern trash

I got my vending banner in the other day. Excitement! It's all pretty and such. Look familiar? It's the website/blog layout. I liked it enough to use again. And yes, I'm a giant dork and this picture proves it. It also proves my Elvis curtain is fabulous.

Heavy Rebellll!

It's almost time for my favorite event. It's the one I look forward to all year, and get totally depressed when it's over. Yes, it is that amazing. This will be my... 4th year?

This year, yours truly will be among the vendors. EXCITED. I went to the Heavy Rebel website today to check out the vendor list and got all giddy to see my name and website listed. What can I say, I'm easily impressed. While I was there, I saw they put up the initial band list, with more to come.

Ones I'm dying to see:
The Defilers
Lords of the Highway
Bo-Stevens
Sasquatch and the Sickabillies
Holy Ghost Tent Revival
The Koffin Kats
Memphis Morticians

.. and of course all the new bands I don't even know I love yet. I've discovered some of the best music from going to this weekender. If you haven't been, you just don't know! If you're from the east coast, make the trip. Trust me, it's worth it. And don't forget to come to my booth and have a drink with me and the girls!
