Tiki Trouble!!

My original Tiki Skirt used to be my favorite design. And then the perfect gold color that matched his little face was discontinued. So, back to the drawing board for my NEW favorite design. I absolutely love this dancing Tiki man even more!

Mehli for Dismantled Fashions

Here are a couple GREAT photos I hadn't had the chance to post until now. I found Miss Mehli (aka Melanie) online as usual, but isn't it just a small world that she lives just an hour away in Richmond! Not only is she the model in the photos, she also runs her own photography company. I love Jills of all Trades, and this lady is no exception. We're already planning our next product shoot together, plus a little pin up with me in front of the camera!

The Vintage Doll for Dismantled Fashions

I'm a little behind on sharing these photos, but I think you'll agree, they're worth the wait! So please sit tight while I gush about how much I love this lady -

I first fell in love with The Vintage Doll on Facebook. All of the sudden, her photos were everywhere! I don't think I was able to go to one pin up or rockabilly page (or blog, or Tumblr) without seeing her gorgeous, classic, face. Now, I don't often approach models and in fact, it's pretty rare. I'm usually booked up with the lovely ladies who seek me  out, but I knew I had to snag a chance to work with this girl. After emailing her my ideas and the new design sketch, she said yes!

I'll admit it, I was a little shocked at how absolutely kind and sweet the Doll is. It's a sad fact that when a lot of models start becoming well known, the ego starts to get to them. Let me tell you, that is not her at all! Not only did she live up to the name Doll, but she's so professional! Thanks to her and her killer photographer,  Lily DeathStarr of Vivid EyeCandy Photography, I have lovely photos to share with you. I'm pleased as punch, just in case you couldn't tell!

Make sure you check out The Vintage Doll on Instagram, Facebook, or Youtube. You know I'm subscribed! ♥

Vivian Vega and Angela Morales for Dismantled Fashions

These photos may be just a tad old (few weeks maybe?) but I still wanted to share them over here now that I'm back in the blogging world.

I do a lot of photoshoots and I'm lucky enough to work with amazing models and photographers. But, it's rare that you have the perfect perfect perfect experience. With Vivian and Angela, I got just that. Every single detail of the experience was amazing, and clearly you can see that these photos are spot on perfect!

Flossie Carmichael for Dismantled Fashions

Miss Flossie is always such a treat to work with. This Texas based lady is the sweetest thing you've ever met. I first had the pleasure of meeting Flossie when I put out a casting call for Rosie Hair Wrap models, and after seeing what she sent back for me.. I fell in love! This girl has impeccable style and a gorgeous classic meets modern look. So far, she's done 4 shoots for Dismantled Fashions and I've yet to be disappointed! Here's some shots from the two most recent...

See more of Flossie on her FB Fanpage, or through American Pinups. All clothing can be purchased from http://dismantledfashions.com

Well, I just received back my first set of photos from the lovely southern fried pin up, Flossie Carmichael

Behind the scenes with Lucky Devil Pin Ups

You know, for as many photo shoots as I do for Dismantled Fashions I've never done any behind the scenes! Considering I'm the nosey type that likes to know all about everyone's everything (well, as far as style! I'm not a nosey body in every day life.. I promise!) I'm really surprised I've never done a post on it!

So yesterday I had a shoot for some new products with my favorite photographer, Adam of Lucky Devil Pin Ups. My model this time around was the always sweet and lovely Iraís from Houston. Ain't she a total doll?

 - and - I actually snapped a couple mid shoot photos of the "magic happening" HA.

So stay tuned to see the final shots and all the new goodies!

A devilish shoot ;)

Ah, I think I win for cheesy titles! A couple weeks ago, I had my first photoshoot since moving to Texas. I was lucky enough to stumble upon an AMAZING photographer on Model Mayhem, Adam of Lucky Devil Pinups. His style is so clean and editorial, it's absolutely perfect and dead on for what I do. The stunning model, Devil Kitten, is a funny story in itself - we had been talking about working together a good while ago and had to put it on hold while she moved. Turns out, she moved to Austin... and at that point I was on my way here too! It's a small pinup world, I tell ya!

This shoot was so much fun. These two are insanely professional and good at what they do, it was like a cake walk ending in amazing photos! These are just a few, there's more in my Flickr here -

All these items are now available on DismantledFashions.com and the Etsy Shop. Scoop em up, darlings! And if you're a model in Texas, look up Lucky Devil! (and then email me because we should work together!)

Hello Texas! Oh yeah, and I'm back :)

Whew! I missed the internet. You completely do not realize how addicted you are until you go a week without it.

But! We are settling in nicely to our new apartment in Texas. It's so roomy! I swear, the closet in my new studio is almost big enough to be a bedroom. I'm not at all used to this much room... but it gives me a reason to buy new things (much to the dismay of the fella) We're working on decorating and getting new furniture to fill in the gaps, and it's been so much fun. After the epic year of moving, it's really nice to know we are settling in an area for good!

The best part of the move had to be our stop along the way in Nashville. It's where my best friend and model, Bonnie Dee and her husband are living (though I hear rumors of a move to Texas?!) Those two are adorably enough, the matron of honor and best man in our wedding, so needless to say it was so much fun hanging out with them again.

Bonnie had a shoot planned the day of our visit and asked if I'd like to tag along and join in on it. Ummm. yes! Even though it was so weird to be on that side of the camera, it was crazy fun.

(all photos are by the awesome Allen Manus of PE Photography)

This one cracks me up. I look so intrigued.

New dress photos!

A couple days ago, my best friend in the world and gorgeous model, Bonnie Dee, did a shoot for me with UVUDU? Imaging... and I'm thrilled with the results. I've only gotten a few edits back from one of the items so far, but they are great and I had to share.

These were taken in the retro amazing home of the husband/wife photography duo of King Dado and Kallisto Killer - I think it makes the perfect set for my clothing. It almost looks like it was set up just for shoots, I love it.

Here are a couple of the shots I've gotten back, how perfectly festive :)

The dress is available on DismantledFashions.com and in the Etsy Shop - and, it's included in the holiday 15% off sale!

More new photoshoot pictures

A while ago, one of my burlesque dancing friends, Deanna Danger, asked me if I'd be interested in styling a flyer photoshoot for a special event. Well, yeah! The icing on the cake was that the event was a rockabilly/pin up inspired shindig. I promptly changed my answer to a big old 'hell yes'! After some talks and a fitting with the two lovely girls, plus a photoshoot by Ginger of 422 Studio, these images were born. I'm really glad I was asked to be a part of this and I really can't wait to see the flyer around town. (I'll probably jack one to keep in my studio area, shh!)

I'll also be at the event with a little table and raffling off a Dismantled Fashions skirt. There are talks this raffle business might be a recurring thing. Oooh, exciting!

Here are a couple photos from the set. You can see more in my Flickr if you're interested.

Alamilla does it again!

The always lovely Alamilla sent me these two photos last night and I'm thrilled with them, I had to share right away! That girl is a fabulous model and by far the most professional I've ever worked with. This shoot was just on Tuesday with Girlie Show Photography and already I'm getting to show them off, that's amazing! So goes without saying I'd recommend them both any day. Thank you ladies!

Find them in the Etsy shop, which by the way has free shipping right now. Just sayin'...

New models!

Now that I'm back in full swing, of course the first thing I do I start looking for new models! I found a few fabulous girls I wanna gush about.

First up, you might know I had plans to work with Twila of The Mysterious Life of the Metropolitan Housewife, but due to me being a bum it didn't happen when we first talked. But, we're back! I love this girl because not only is she a complete sweetie to me, she just oozes vintage glamor. Her blog is always a favorite read of mine.

(Twila - Vorpral Images)

Next up, I've got Lauren Luck. She found me when I posted on Myspace that I was looking for new trade models, and I'm glad she did! I decided I had to have her as a model when I saw her military pin up inspired photos. I'm such a sucker for that! I'm glad she's using the same photographer too, I love the style.

(Lauren Luck - Marilee Caruso Photography)

Also up to be the next DF model is the simply adorable Vera Vogue. I've always seen her around and loooved her style. Especially now with the photographer she has. I can't wait to see what kind of commercial style they come up with.

(Vera Vogue - P. Talley)

And finally, I'm going to be working with the ever fabulous Alamilla again very shortly. She's the fox who modeled the Sailor Girl Skirt. I have no doubt this will be another favorite shoot of mine.

(Alamilla in Dismantled Fashions - Mike Basso)

So, goes without saying I have a lot of work to do!! Tomorrow in between working on orders I'm going to start planning what these lovely girls will be wearing. And then on top of that, I've got plans to set up a local shoot with some of my girls and a photographer friend. More on that as it happens. I gotta say, it feels really good to be back in such full force!

Deanna Danger in Dismantled Fashions & a Sale

I recieved the pictures back from my shoot with Deanna. Yay! The shoot itself was a lot of fun. She has great energy and the photographer had some amazing ideas. Hollywood Cemetery = amazing location. I don't even care that it's totally cliche. See for yourself! (as always, full set in Flickr)

Boo on me!

I've been bad at keeping up with my blog lately. I'm either too busy, or too boring! Let's see... I never go out anymore so I don't have any debauchery to share. However, there are cool things coming up with Dismantled Fashions.

Tomorrow I have a shoot with Deanna Danger in Hollywood Cemetery. If you're from Richmond, I know I know, it's cliche. But if you're not, you're probably going to love it. It's going to be so fabulously generic psychobilly styled. I'm pretty excited to see how she does her hair and makeup.. hmm.. (By the way, that photo is not mine at all. I don't even have anything to do with it. I just wanted to share a picture of Deanna. It belongs to her and Kencredible)

Also, a couple of my trade models have already received their goods and are hoping to have photos back for me soon. Keep a look out for those! Here is where I'm excited. Like I said before, I scored some great girls. I'm still working on getting a lot of things made for the other models... takes time!

Other than all that, I'm just trying to keep up with orders and planning my big summer trip/vending excursion of the summer. More on that later..

Silent Spirit Studio Photoshoot

This past Saturday, my best friend Bea Derringer (Or Amy.. she's a big deal and has a cute model name.) and I woke up ridiculously early to meet the fab photography team of Silent Spirit Studio for a photoshoot for Dismantled Fashions. We were also joined by my sweetie friend and 40s movie star looking model, Jessica Marie. Let me tell you, Ashley Elaine and Dan are some amazing people to work with. Not only are they extremely professional, they are personable and so nice! AE is not only a great MUAH, but a banging model! She's the dark haired girl in the photos below, and did Jessica Marie's makeup and hair. Oh, and if you're into fabulous, well made hair pieces, check out her Etsy shop: SilentSpiritStudio.etsy.com Dan did all the photography and editing, and gave the girls perfect direction. Don't these look like vintage postcards?

I had so much fun at this shoot and we got some seriously amazing images out of it. I'm thrilled with the entire experience! If you're in the VA/MD/DC area and need a really great photographer or MUAH who will give you more than your money's worth and an entire day of great shooting, check them out! I give them the full Dismantled Fashions seal of approval.. (wait.. I don't think I have one.. But you know what I mean..)

Now for some of my favorite photos. You can find the rest on my Flickr page, as there are way too many to post here!

And my absolute favorite.. This cracks me the hell up. You have to click on it to see it fullsize.. the text is hilarious!

Photoshoots and Fashion Shows

Yesterday I met up with Amy in Richmond so she could model some clothes for me. I'm sure it's pretty obvious, but I took these photos. No professionalism here! No, I just can't seem to find a photographer worth a damn. They don't seem to get what I'm looking for. And the two I have found locally that I really like, I can't afford. Bummer, right? Anyway, all things considered, I think these came out pretty decent. Of course she looks fabulous in these... The rest are in my Flickr, and these clothes are up in my Etsy shop. Cute fuckn' cute.

After that, we met up with Stef of Toxic Shock Apparel and the rest of our crew of loud, drunk girls to prepare for Stef's first runway show. My baby is growing up! It was a total blast.. and the backstage was insane. I felt like I was on America's Next Top Model. I've never laced a girl into a corset so fast. It was only after I speed laced that I realized I had a lot more time than I thought Oops... Anyway, if there is anything I like in this world it's fashion, booze and being at a gay bar (which it was held at). So clearly, I had a good time. I wanna do a runway show again now!

And finally, I'm buried waist deep in orders right now. Every year I forget what a busy time Spring and Summer is for me. Wait.. maybe I should get off the computer and get to work....

My models are hot!

And the amazing model photos keep pouring in! This is from Alamilla, who is seriously fabulous and quickly becoming a total big deal. I'll get to say I worked with her way back when ;)

As usual, you can find the rest from the set on my Flickr account. By the way, these were taken by a favorite of mine, Mike Basso. He did a shoot a while back with Mekena Von Suerte in one of my dresses, and those are some of my favorite portfolio pictures.

I'm starting to get over my hatred and fear of trade modeling. Sure, I'm still picky as all hell. And sure, I'll probably say no to most trade model offers.. but lately its working out well for me. So thank you, ladies (and gents)! So, who's next? Little Miss Krizia and Vanessa Nicole. Yowza!
